Summertime! by The Drums was released on October 19 2009, but their sudden bout of success and popularity seems to be due to their recent tour supporting Brighton boys The Maccabees. Their most recent album features light summery-feeling guitar that soften the bluntly depressing lyrics. With the naivety that The Drums manage to pull off so well, they still manage to put on a show with their live performances. After playing in Cardiff, the crowd, many of which seemed never to of heard of the small New York-based four piece group managed to picked up on the easy tune and 'Best Friend' went down better than you would of expected. Although lead singer Jonathan Pierce pranced around the stage like a peacock in mating season, they did not fail to impress. BBC announced them as one of the 15 music acts for the BBC sound of 2010. The Drums were also awarded the Phillip Hall Radar award this year at the NME awards. In the eyes of the editorial staff of NME, The Drums were the most worthy to have graduated from theRadar (a page for new bands in NME magazine) over the past year. It seems 2010 will be their year, but will they be able to withstand the hype?

About Me

My photo
my name is molly. I like the Drums, anything by Dean Chalkley, a good camera, a nice pair of shoes, Robert Smith, vegetarian recipes, old films, cigerette burns, music trivia, the smell of old books, strawberries, church candles, knitted socks, tequila, french farm houses, money jars, cigars and whiskey, father's old shoes, lace and leather, big rings and Bombay Bicycle Club. My ever growing music collection is my most prized possession.
